Reel engagement rate calculator.

Enter your Reel’s numbers and get its engagement rate instantly - plus what counts as good for a Reel your size.

In short: Reel engagement rate is total engagements (likes + comments + saves + shares) divided by reach, times 100. Enter your numbers below to calculate it instantly. For Reels, dividing by reach is more accurate than followers because Reels reach far beyond your follower count. Roughly 1–3% is average, 3–6% is strong, and 6%+ is excellent.

What is a good Reel engagement rate?

For Reels, engagement rate is best measured against reach rather than followers, because Reels are pushed to non-followers and routinely reach many times your follower count. Add likes, comments, saves, and shares, divide by reach, and multiply by 100. As a 2026 benchmark, roughly 1–3% is average, 3–6% is strong, and above 6% is excellent. Because saves and especially shares drive a Reel’s distribution, a Reel can have a modest like count but a strong engagement rate if people are sending and saving it.

Common use cases

Frequently asked questions

How do you calculate Reel engagement rate?

Add likes, comments, saves, and shares, divide by the Reel’s reach, then multiply by 100. Reach is more accurate than followers for Reels.

Should I use reach or followers for a Reel?

Use reach. Reels are distributed to non-followers, so reach reflects how the people who actually saw it engaged. Followers understates Reels badly.

What is a good Reel engagement rate?

Roughly 1–3% is average, 3–6% is strong, and above 6% is excellent when measured against reach.

Why do saves and shares matter so much?

Shares are the strongest reach signal on Reels and saves are close behind - both push your Reel to new audiences far more than likes do.

My Reel got lots of views but low engagement - why?

High views with low engagement usually means a strong hook but a weak payoff or no share trigger. People watched but had no reason to act.

Is this calculator private?

Yes. All the math runs in your browser - nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored.
